Malta Visa Guide for Pakistani Citizens

✈️ 1. Visit Visa (Type C – Schengen Short Stay)

Purpose:

  • Tourism
  • Visiting family/friends in Malta
  • Max stay: 90 days in any 180-day period

Documents Required:

  • Schengen visa application form
  • Valid passport (3+ months beyond return)
  • Two passport-size photos (white background)
  • Round-trip flight reservation
  • Hotel booking OR invitation letter from host in Malta (with ID copy)
  • Travel insurance (€30,000 coverage)
  • 6-month personal bank statement
  • Proof of employment/business (letterhead & registration docs)
  • CNIC & passport copy
  • Cover letter explaining travel purpose
  • FRC if visiting relatives
  • Visa Fee: €80 + VFS charges

📍 Submit through VFS Italy, as Malta uses Italian embassies for Schengen visas.


💼 2. Business Visa (Type C – Schengen Short Stay)

Purpose:

  • Business meetings, trade fairs, conferences

Additional Documents:

  • Invitation letter from Maltese company
  • Business cover letter from Pakistani employer
  • SECP/NTN/Chamber of Commerce documents
  • 6-month company bank statement
  • Proof of previous business relationship (invoices, emails)
  • Hotel and travel reservations
  • All general documents from Visit Visa

🏠 3. Family Reunion Visa (Type D – National + Residence Permit)

Purpose:

  • Joining legally residing spouse, parents, or children in Malta
  • Long stay: over 90 days

Procedure:

  1. Sponsor in Malta applies for a residence permit on your behalf
  2. Once approved, you apply for Type D visa

Documents Required:

  • Visa application (Type D)
  • Residence permit approval letter
  • Marriage/birth certificate (translated + attested by MOFA)
  • FRC (from NADRA)
  • Sponsor’s residence card and work contract
  • Sponsor’s income proof & accommodation lease
  • Police clearance certificate
  • Health insurance
  • Passport & photos
  • Visa Fee: €100–120

📌 You must apply for a residence card within 3 months of arriving in Malta.


🎓 4. Study Visa (Type D + Residence Permit)

Purpose:

  • Higher education at a Maltese institution (Bachelor’s, Master’s, etc.)

Procedure:

  1. Secure admission in a recognized Maltese institution
  2. Apply for residence permit for study
  3. Once approved, apply for Type D visa

Documents Required:

  • Acceptance/enrollment letter
  • Tuition payment receipt
  • Educational documents (HEC-attested + translated if required)
  • Proof of funds: €5,000–€7,000 in personal/sponsor account
  • Accommodation letter (dorm or rental)
  • Police character certificate
  • Health insurance
  • Passport + 2 photos
  • Visa Fee: €100–120

📌 Residence permit is issued upon arrival after fingerprinting and ID processing.


👷 5. Work Permit Visa (Type D + Employment Residence Permit)

Purpose:

  • Employment with a registered Maltese employer

Steps:

  1. Employer applies for your Single Permit (work + residence) to Identity Malta
  2. Once approved, you apply for Type D Visa via VFS Italy

Documents Required:

  • Employment contract + Single Permit approval
  • Valid passport
  • Educational and experience documents (attested + translated if needed)
  • CV + cover letter
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Police clearance
  • Medical insurance
  • Passport photos
  • Visa Fee: €100–120
