Latvia Visa Guide for Pakistani Citizens

✈️ 1. Visit Visa (Type C – Schengen Short Stay)

Purpose:

  • Tourism
  • Visiting family or friends
  • Stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period

Required Documents:

  • Schengen visa application form
  • Passport (valid for 3+ months after return)
  • 2 biometric passport-size photos
  • Travel itinerary (flight bookings)
  • Hotel booking OR invitation letter from Latvian host (official invitation preferred)
  • Cover letter explaining purpose of visit
  • Travel insurance (€30,000 minimum coverage)
  • 6-month personal bank statement
  • Proof of employment or business registration
  • FRC (if visiting relatives)
  • CNIC + passport copy
  • Visa Fee: €80 + VFS charges

💼 2. Business Visa (Type C – Schengen Short Stay)

Purpose:

  • Attending business meetings, trade fairs, or corporate visits

Additional Documents:

  • Invitation letter from Latvian company (mentioning visit purpose and duration)
  • Letter from Pakistani company/employer (on letterhead)
  • Proof of business registration (NTN, SECP, Chamber of Commerce)
  • Business bank statement (6 months)
  • Proof of ongoing business relationship (emails, contracts, etc.)
  • Travel and accommodation bookings
  • All documents listed for Visit Visa

🏠 3. Family Reunion Visa (Type D – Long Stay + Residence Permit)

Purpose:

  • Joining spouse, child, or parent legally residing in Latvia

Required Documents:

  • National visa application form (Type D)
  • Valid passport
  • Residence permit approval by the Latvian Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (OCMA)
  • Marriage or birth certificate (translated into Latvian & attested)
  • FRC from NADRA
  • Sponsor’s Latvian ID/residence permit copy
  • Proof of accommodation in Latvia
  • Sponsor’s proof of income
  • Police clearance certificate
  • Health insurance
  • Visa Fee: €100–120

📌 Residence permit application is typically submitted by the sponsor in Latvia before visa application.


🎓 4. Student Visa (Type D + Residence Permit for Study)

Purpose:

  • Higher education (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD) in Latvia

Required Documents:

  • Acceptance letter from Latvian university
  • Proof of tuition fee payment
  • Academic documents (attested by IBCC & HEC, translated)
  • Proof of sufficient financial means: ~€6,000–€7,000/year
  • Accommodation letter (dorm contract or private rental)
  • Police clearance certificate
  • Medical certificate
  • Travel health insurance
  • Passport + photos
  • Visa application + residence permit application
  • Visa Fee: €100–120

📌 You must apply for residence permit first (online or via sponsor in Latvia), then apply for the visa.


👷 5. Work Permit Visa (Type D + Residence Permit)

Purpose:

  • Long-term employment in Latvia

Procedure:

  1. Employer in Latvia applies for your residence and work permit at OCMA
  2. Once approved, you apply for Type D visa at VFS

Documents Required:

  • Employment contract from Latvian company
  • Work & residence permit approval from OCMA
  • Valid passport
  • Educational and experience certificates (attested + translated)
  • CV
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Health insurance
  • Medical and police clearance certificates
  • Passport-size photos
  • Visa Fee: €100–120
