Switzerland Visa Guide for Pakistani Citizens

✈️ 1. Visit Visa (Type C – Schengen Short Stay)

Purpose:

  • Tourism
  • Visiting family or friends (less than 90 days)

Required Documents:

  • Schengen visa application form
  • Valid passport (at least 6 months validity)
  • Two passport-sized photos (white background)
  • Cover letter explaining trip purpose
  • Flight booking
  • Hotel reservation OR invitation letter from Swiss resident
  • Proof of relationship (FRC, marriage certificate, etc.)
  • Travel insurance (min. €30,000 coverage)
  • Bank statement (last 6 months, stamped)
  • Proof of employment/business
  • Visa Fee: €80 (in PKR) + VFS charges

📌 Invitation must be supported with the inviter’s passport/residence ID and proof of accommodation.


💼 2. Business Visa (Type C – Schengen Short Stay)

Purpose:

  • Attend meetings, training, seminars, trade fairs

Additional Required Documents:

  • Invitation letter from Swiss company
  • Letter from Pakistani employer confirming business purpose
  • SECP registration/NTN (if business owner)
  • Chamber of Commerce Certificate
  • Company bank statement (last 6 months)
  • Hotel reservation and flight booking
  • Travel insurance
  • All standard documents from visit visa

📌 Swiss company should clearly mention visit purpose, duration, and financial sponsorship (if any).


🏠 3. Family Reunion Visa (Type D – National Long Stay)

Purpose:

  • Joining a spouse, parent, or child who is a legal Swiss resident

Steps:

  1. Sponsor in Switzerland applies for family reunification authorization from the Swiss Migration Office (SEM)
  2. After approval, you apply for a Type D National Visa at VFS Pakistan

Required Documents:

  • Family reunification approval letter
  • Marriage/birth certificate (MOFA-attested + German/French/Italian translation)
  • FRC (Family Registration Certificate)
  • Sponsor’s Swiss ID/residence permit
  • Proof of financial stability and accommodation in Switzerland
  • Police clearance certificate
  • Medical certificate
  • Passport + application form
  • Travel insurance
  • Visa Fee: CHF 100 (€100)

📌 After entry, register for a residence permit in the local canton within 14 days.


🎓 4. Student Visa (Type D – Long Stay National Visa)

Purpose:

  • Studying at a Swiss university, college, or training institute

Steps:

  1. Get accepted by a Swiss institution
  2. Apply for residence permit approval through the institution or directly
  3. Apply for Type D Student Visa through VFS

Required Documents:

  • Admission/acceptance letter
  • Tuition fee payment proof
  • Proof of financial means (CHF 21,000+ per year)
  • Personal bank account statement
  • Educational certificates (HEC-attested + translated)
  • Police and medical certificates
  • Proof of accommodation in Switzerland
  • Valid passport
  • Visa application form + photos
  • Visa Fee: CHF 100 (€100)

📌 Apply at least 8–12 weeks before the start of semester. Once approved, a residence permit is issued upon arrival.


👷 5. Work Permit Visa (Type D – Long Stay National Visa)

Purpose:

  • Employment with a Swiss company

Steps:

  1. Employer in Switzerland applies for work and residence authorization through the Canton Migration Office + SEM
  2. Once approved, you apply for Type D Work Visa via VFS in Pakistan

Required Documents:

  • Work permit authorization letter
  • Valid job contract (with salary and conditions)
  • CV and educational certificates (attested and translated)
  • Proof of experience
  • Police clearance certificate
  • Medical report
  • Passport + photos
  • Accommodation details in Switzerland
  • Travel insurance
